Kris Malachowski, co-founder of Nvidia, who is at the center of the global AI revolution, cited Korea as a key partner in the AI era. Malachowski Pelo, who attended the 2026 Korea-U.S. Scientists Conference (UKC) in Orlando, Florida on the 7th (local time), praised, “Without Korea, there would be no Nvidia or AI revolution today.” The AI infrastructure will be a key foundation for the country like the power grid and the capital, he said. “President Lee Jae Myung and the Korean government have set the policy direction well.”
◆The AI revolution is just the beginning
Malachowski Pelo is one of three co-founders of Nvidia. If CEO Jensen Huang led Nvidia’s business strategy, Malachowski Pelo is the one who developed Nvidia technology himself and created today’s GPUs. It expanded GPUs, which had only been processed by graphics, to general-purpose computing platforms and designed the core of today’s AI infrastructure.
Regarding investment in AI infrastructure, which has recently raised concerns about overinvestment, he dismissed it as “AI is only the beginning.” “The AI revolution is a platform transformation that may or may not appear once in a generation,” he said several times. “We are still in the early stages of the game, and the biggest innovation has not yet occurred.”

In particular, he emphasized that only countries that quickly build AI infrastructure will survive. He said, “If we don’t build AI infrastructure quickly, just as the country that built the power grid or the Internet first took the lead, we will fall behind.” In this regard, he said, “Just as President Lee makes AI a key national task in Korea, Sovereign AI is an area that must be preempted to lead the future on its own. All states and other countries in the United States should have the same approach as Korea.”
The AI revolution he sees has just begun. “AI is not just a large-scale language model (LLM) or chatbot, but a new computing platform,” Malachowski Pelo said. “If electricity changed all industries and the Internet connected all industries, AI will reorganize all industries.”
◆AI blooms outside the lab
It is predicted that the center of AI innovation will spread outside the AI lab in the near future. “Many of the most influential findings over the next decade will come from people who apply AI to biology and medicine, climate science, material science, and manufacturing, not from huge AI labs,” he predicted.
It is explained that innovation will explode at the interdisciplinary boundary as researchers with deep expertise are given an innovative tool called AI. In fact, at this UKC event, people with existing expertise faced new opportunities, and many responded that science would accelerate. A researcher predicted, “As the generation who have studied without AI meets AI, a new era of discovery will open for the time being.”
The positive outlook for semiconductor companies such as Nvidia, Samsung Electronics, and SK Hynix also comes from the belief that a bright future for the AI market will come. “AI has the potential to improve everyone’s lives,” Malachowski Pelo said, predicting that strong investment will continue in the future. “If you invest after the demand becomes clear, it will be too late. “The future is to make before it becomes clear,” he said, emphasizing the speed battle.
In particular, it is predicted that the competitiveness of companies that have had a competitive advantage so far will continue. “The capabilities that experts have built up for decades will grow as fast as welfare,” Malachowski Pelo said. “The dominance of AI-competitive countries such as the United States and South Korea will continue in the future and will play an important role in the AI revolution.”
However, he stressed that open innovation is essential to maintain competitiveness. “The open ecosystem has no choice but to win, and expanding access to AI itself is an important innovation strategy,” he said. “As we expand accessibility, opportunities and possibilities expand.”
Regarding the recent Mitos and Fable incidents, which were subject to export control for security reasons, he said, “For real security, we should not control it, but rather open the ecosystem.” “AI that threatens safety will continue to emerge,” Malachowski Pelo said. “It is a much safer direction to have as many experts as possible involved in transparency and safety issues through an open-source model than a small number of companies monopolizing safety issues.”
◆ Build expertise, intuition, and judgment
His interest is to design a society suitable for the AI era. Nvidia is currently leading an initiative to spread AI across the United States, and is running a “Future Labor Task Force” with the U.S. administration and Congress. It is a project to redesign jobs and education in the AI era.
Looking deep into the U.S. job problem, he objected to claims that AI would reduce jobs. “AI is a job creator,” Malachowski Pelo said. “Some of the existing jobs will be replaced, but as human capabilities improve significantly with AI, there will be more work to do and jobs will increase.”
However, the gap according to AI ability remains a problem. “AI will not replace jobs, but those who use AI well will replace those who do not,” he said. What is needed to not be replaced is deep expertise. “The education needed in the AI era is not coding, but finding areas to like and explore deeply,” Malachowski Pelo said. “In the process of digging deep into anything, the judgment and intuition necessary for the AI era are created.”
The last and intrinsic competence of man he sees is judgment and intuition. He said, “You should actively use AI, but not hand over your judgment.” Companies that have tried to replace manpower with AI have actually reduced people for several years, but they realize the importance of manpower again and regret it, he said. “AI is a useful tool only when human judgment is available.”
Malachowski Pelo advised the younger generation to “continue to pursue and move for the better without being satisfied.” “When I was young, I worked as a carpenter and cleaned furniture stores, and it was a useful experience when I started Nvidia,” he said. “No matter what situation you are in now, never stop. Do something constantly.”
