AI model lightweight technology supports full-length AI deployment

Clica, an artificial intelligence (AI) lightweight company, was finally selected in an AI technology competition jointly held by Singapore and French defense authorities.

Clica announced on the 10th that it will be selected in the ‘AI Joint Challenge’, a global defense AI technology cooperation program organized by Singapore and French defense agencies, and will conduct a pilot project (PoC).

The contest was organized by Cap Vista, a venture investment agency under the Singapore Defense Science and Technology Agency (DSTA), the Future System Technology Agency (FSTD) under the Singapore Ministry of Defense, and the Defense AI Agency (AMIAD) under the French Ministry of Defense.

The purpose is to discover AI technology that will solve the operational challenges faced by defense agencies in the battlefield, humanitarian aid, and away operations and link them to demonstration projects.

The task consisted of three types: detecting anomalies in large and complex data, optimizing field-deployed AI overcoming size, weight, and power (SWaP) constraints, and safe autonomous systems in complex environments. Clica was selected by applying for the second project.

CLICA has been evaluated for its own automated compression engine (ACE), which automatically lightens AI models, and end-to-end pipeline technology, which distributes lightweight models to different hardware. Clica is the only place that was finally selected in this challenge alone.

In particular, the need for lightweight AI technology that runs in real-time on devices or platforms is growing because it is difficult to rely on large computing clusters or cloud connections on the battlefield or remote areas.

With this selection, Clica plans to expand its business area from a company specializing in model compression to an ‘AI distribution platform’ company. It serves as an all-in-one platform that allows the lightweight model to be automatically distributed to major operating systems such as Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Linux, as well as to heterogeneous hardware such as graphics processing units (GPUs) and neural network processing units (NPUs).

Starting with the signing of this PoC contract, Klika is planning to expand this platform technology.
