Mumbai, India — Google India has launched a new campaign for Google Gemini featuring Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan, using multilingual storytelling and everyday situations to make artificial intelligence (AI) feel more approachable to audiences across Bharat.
Conceptualised and written by Prasoon Joshi, Chairman of Omnicom Advertising India, and developed by Google with McCann India and Nirvana Films, the campaign positions Gemini not simply as an AI tool, but as a supportive friend that can listen, understand and help people navigate everyday decisions.
The campaign is built around an insight that people do not necessarily lack ambition, but may lack someone to turn to when they are uncertain, while for audiences in Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns, language can also create a barrier to confidence when using technology.
The campaign closes with the line “Ab Dost Hai Saath, Khul Ke Karo Baat”, reinforcing Gemini’s positioning as a friendly companion that can help people move from aspiration to action.
Google India said that while AI awareness is growing rapidly in the country, everyday use remains concentrated among English-speaking metro audiences, leading the campaign to focus on showing how speaking to Gemini in familiar languages can make AI feel less intimidating and more useful for the roughly 470 million internet users across Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns.
Rather than focusing on Gemini’s technology alone, the campaign uses personal, relatable stories to demonstrate how the platform can support people through moments of uncertainty.
Gemini can work across text, video, speech and images, but the campaign places greater emphasis on its ability to hold a natural conversation and respond within the context of people’s everyday lives.
The creative approach presents Gemini as a friendly voice that helps remove barriers without judgement. By allowing people to communicate in their own language, the campaign seeks to turn language anxiety into greater confidence and make AI feel like a natural part of daily life.
Shekar Khosla, Vice President – Marketing, Google India, said: “With Google Gemini, we aren’t just bridging the gap between aspiration and achievement; we are speaking to the very heart of India—in our own languages, our own emotions, and our own comfort zones.”
“It’s been wonderful working with Shah Rukh Khan and Prasoon to help bring this vision to life, and we hope it becomes the fuel for your daily wins, unlocking new ideas and possibilities in every moment,” added Khosla.
For Joshi, the campaign was designed to make Gemini blend into everyday situations rather than position it as a distant piece of technology.
“With Google Gemini, we explored how technology can support that process quietly, not by standing out, but by blending into everyday life. By placing Gemini within these moments and allowing people to speak in their own language, we aimed to make it feel less like a machine and more like a companion,” shared Joshi.
Through the campaign, Google is shifting the conversation around AI from what the technology can do to how it can fit into people’s everyday lives — particularly for audiences who may have previously found AI less accessible because of language or familiarity.
