Google’s Gemini app has reached 1 billion monthly active users. Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced the new milestone. According to him, Gemini has become one of the company’s fastest-growing products and the 14th Google service to reach an audience of this scale.
In terms of monthly active users, Gemini has caught up with OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The ChatGPT app surpassed the 1 billion user mark in June. At the same time, Gemini’s figure covers only the audience of the standalone app, excluding people who use Google’s artificial intelligence through the company’s other services.
Google expands Gemini’s use across its services
Google is gradually integrating Gemini into its key products, including Search, Workspace, Android, and its own mobile app. The company also said that AI Mode in Search is already used by more than 1 billion monthly active users worldwide.
Gemini continues to receive new models and features. These include Gemini 3.5 Flash, which was developed to improve programming tasks and the autonomous operation of AI agents.
How users interact with Gemini
According to Google, 63% of Gemini users communicate with the AI assistant by voice. In addition, the service generates more than 150 million images every day.
Gemini’s audience is growing rapidly not only among Android users and users of Google services. On iOS devices, the app already has more than 100 million active users.
The company announced the new figure following its financial report for the second quarter of 2026. At the time, Google said that Gemini had more than 950 million monthly users, while its daily active audience had tripled over the year.
