Google is adding a set of software features to the Pixel Buds Pro 2, alongside a new Olive colour option for its premium wireless earbuds. The update expands the earbuds’ noise cancellation, Gemini integration, translation capabilities and connectivity with the Pixel Watch.
The new Olive finish is available to order from August 12, while the software features will begin rolling out in September. The updates are being introduced to existing Pixel Buds Pro 2 users as well as new buyers.
One of the main additions is Dynamic ANC, which is designed to maintain noise cancellation when the fit of the earbuds changes slightly. Google says the system can compensate for subtle shifts in the seal between the earbud tips and the ear, helping maintain consistent active noise cancellation.
Gemini is also gaining greater control over the earbuds. Users will be able to issue voice commands to adjust audio settings without reaching for their phone. For example, Gemini can be asked to increase or reduce the bass or treble while music is playing.
The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are also gaining Sleep Sync through their connection with the Pixel Watch. When the watch detects that the wearer has fallen asleep, the earbuds can automatically pause audio, disable touch controls and silence notifications. The feature is intended to prevent music or incoming alerts from disturbing the user after they fall asleep.
Google is also expanding Live Translate. The updated feature can be activated by tapping the earbuds to enter listening mode, allowing users to follow translated conversations in more than 70 languages in near real time. The system also supports two-way conversations: after one person speaks in their own language, the Pixel phone can play the translated version back in the other person’s language.
The changes continue Google’s effort to link its earbuds more closely with its wider Pixel ecosystem. The company says Pixel Buds Pro 2 can also work with Gemini to help users locate or ring a connected Pixel Tag, although the new India release specifically highlights the earbuds’ audio, translation and Pixel Watch integration.
The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are not being replaced by a new hardware generation with this update. Instead, Google is extending the existing model’s capabilities through software while adding the Olive finish to the range.
The new colour is part of a wider Olive theme across Google’s latest Pixel devices, including the Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 in Olive can be ordered from August 12, with the new software features scheduled to start reaching users in September.
In India, Google has confirmed the same Pixel Buds Pro 2 updates, including enhanced adaptive Active Noise Cancellation, Gemini Voice Control, Live Translate for media and Sleep Sync. The company has not provided a separate India price for the new Olive colour in the information supplied.
