xAI has launched Grok Bot, an AI assistant designed to carry out multi-step tasks across websites, applications and inboxes with limited human intervention.
The company has introduced the service in beta, positioning it as an AI teammate rather than a conventional chatbot. Grok Bot is designed to have its own computer in the cloud, allowing it to sign into services, work across different applications and complete tasks even when the user is not actively monitoring it.
According to xAI, the system was initially developed as an internal prototype and was subsequently used by teams for tasks including sales outreach, marketing, office operations and software bug fixes. The company is now making it available outside the organisation.
Grok Bot can be given instructions through a conversation, with users able to return to the same thread from either a desktop or mobile device. xAI says the system can retain context from previous interactions and adapt to individual working preferences.
One of the key differences is its ability to operate through a computer interface rather than relying solely on conventional application programming interfaces (APIs) or model context protocol (MCP) connections. This means it can interact with websites and software that may not provide dedicated integrations.
The company says internal users have employed Bots for a range of multi-stage tasks. These include updating customer relationship management systems using call transcripts, preparing follow-up messages, processing invoices received through Gmail and reproducing software bugs before filing tickets for engineers.
The system is also designed to allow several Bots to work together. Users can assign different responsibilities to separate Bots, while another Bot can act as a co-ordinator. According to xAI, Bots can exchange messages and context, hand work to one another and collaborate in group chats.
The company is also emphasising the ability to teach a Bot a workflow. Users can have a Bot observe how a particular task is carried out, after which it can retain the process and attempt to repeat it independently. Corrections made by users can also be incorporated into subsequent runs.
xAI says Bots can become more proactive over time, retaining information about how a user prefers certain tasks to be handled and deciding when to continue working and when human input is required.
Grok Bot is currently available in beta to subscribers of SuperGrok Heavy, Cursor Ultra and Cursor Teams Premium on desktop and iOS. Enterprise customers can join a waitlist for future access.
