Monex Securities on Aug. 19 launched MONEX MCP Server, a service compatible with ChatGPT’s plugin function that lets users access Monex account information and investment-related data through conversational AI.
The brokerage said the service was released as a ChatGPT plugin after review and approval by OpenAI, making it the first MCP, or Model Context Protocol, server made public as a ChatGPT plugin by a major securities company in Japan. It is also available as a custom connector for Anthropic’s Claude.
Users who consent to link their Monex Securities accounts on ChatGPT or Claude can ask the AI to retrieve account details, asset holdings, order status, deposit and withdrawal history, mutual fund information and MONEX LABS TOOLS-related information. For now, the service is focused mainly on reference functions for account information.
In ChatGPT, users can install the service by searching for “Monex Securities” in the plugin section. Monex said the system was planned, designed and developed mainly by its in-house development team.
The service uses MCP, a standard designed to connect AI systems securely with external services. Monex said the new offering is intended to address growing demand for checking personal asset status and transaction history through AI platforms such as ChatGPT and Claude, rather than through conventional website searches or app navigation.
The company gave examples of prompts such as “Tell me my current asset status” or “I want to check this month’s deposit and withdrawal history,” allowing users to confirm information without opening the brokerage’s website or smartphone app.
Monex has expanded its use of generative AI in recent years, including an AI avatar analyst called AI Hutch, a beta version of Monex Assistant for account holders, and updates to its asset analysis service MONEX VISION.
For its comparison with peers, Monex said major securities companies referred to the five large full-service brokerages — Nomura Securities, Daiwa Securities, SMBC Nikko Securities, Mizuho Securities and Mitsubishi UFJ Morgan Stanley Securities — as well as five major online brokerages: SBI Securities, Matsui Securities, Mitsubishi UFJ eSmart Securities, Rakuten Securities and Monex Securities.
