The news: Deutsche Bank will deploy Google’s new agentic AI tool for financial professionals across its corporate banking services after taking part in an early-access trial.

Germany’s largest bank said it had been a design partner for Gemini Enterprise for Financial Services, which was launched on Tuesday.

The product is an AI-powered research tool designed specifically for financial services, with consistent, traceable and auditable outputs.

It combines market information, company data and financial performance indicators to help employees quickly generate complex research and analysis.

Deutsche Bank will initially use the technology in its corporate banking division but expects to expand it to other business areas over time.

Google Cloud said the new tool sits on the Gemini Enterprise platform, which is already used by Citi Wealth, Lloyds Banking Group and Macquarie Bank.

The context: Google is seeking to win market share in financial services as major AI providers compete to secure specialised niches.

Microsoft has won government and corporate clients with its Office suite add-on, Copilot, while Meta AI has focused on advertising and retail applications, where it already has a strong presence.

Anthropic and OpenAI are particularly strong in coding and professional services but are competing broadly as general-purpose platforms.

What they said: “We see significant potential to reduce manual research effort, improve the consistency and auditability of outputs, and give our teams more time for client conversations,” Deutsche Bank chief technology officer Marie-Jeanne Deverdun said.
