It seems like Google is continuing its push to get AI into the hands of more users. Last week, we covered an announcement for tertiary students, who could get access to 12 months of Google AI Plus for free, and now, it’s the turn of ASUS laptop owners.
To that end, this month, ASUS kicked off a promotion with Google, where owners of selected models of laptops could get three months of free access to two tiers of Google AI, depending on the device.
More specifically, customers who purchased selected eligible ASUS and ROG laptops, can access three months of Google AI Pro or Google AI Plus at no extra cost. “The offer is designed to help users do more than use AI on a single device. It opens the door to a broader Google AI ecosystem for creating, studying, working, researching, and building, together with expanded cloud storage,” ASUS explained in a release to Hypertext.
“As the top-level offering, Google AI Pro unlocks expanded access to Google’s most capable Gemini models and higher usage limits to Google’s AI tools that power advanced creative and professional workflows. This plan comes with a massive 5 TB of cloud storage. Google AI Plus delivers an accessible entry point to Google’s AI tools, offering elevated model performance, creative generation and productivity features, and 400GB of cloud storage,” it added.
Unpacking some of the tools that are made available, ASUS highlighted that depending on the plan, users can access the Google Gemini app, Deep Research, Google Flow, Gemini Omni, Nano Banana 2, Lyria 3, along with Gemini in Google apps, and Gemini Notebook. Google AI Pro also provides expanded access to developer and agentic experiences, the company pointed out, such as Google Antigravity, Jules, and AI Studio.
As for the models of laptop that are eligible for this promotion, the list is extensive, with ASUS sharing more than 230 different skews that have access to either Google AI Plus or AI Pro. The full list specific to South Africa can be found here.
The list covers a full breadth of ASUS and ROG laptops, with TUF Gaming, ProArt, Zenbook, and Vivobook lineups included.
This promotion, which officially kicked off globally on 10th August 2026, will run until 9th August 2027. As such, it covers models released in 2025, and will also include laptops that the company is yet to release.
It is therefore a good idea to check in on the list we linked to above periodically, if you purchase an ASUS or ROG laptop over the next 12 months.
