Alternative investment platform iCapital announced it is working with Anthropic for the next phase of its artificial intelligence strategy.
iCapital executives cited Claude’s strong reasoning capabilities, interpretability and ability to operate effectively in a compliance-first environment as the reasons they chose Anthropic as the firm’s AI partner.
Over the past few months, Claude Code has been introduced into iCapital’s software development platform. Going forward, the code will be incorporated into the platform’s client-facing applications and its operational stack, according to iCapital CEO Lawrence Calcano. iCapital executives envision that Claude will improve the advisor experience through individual applications, in addition to creating a more seamless path for advisors from fund discovery to education and subscription. Eventually, the AI might create an opportunity for iCapital to consolidate some of these applications, Calcano noted.
“We want to be very much on the front foot with respect to adapting AI,” he said. “It’s almost part of our whole design process as we think about building out applications. We think the industrial-grade nature and scalability of Claude put us in a really good place to leverage what they’ve built. We feel very good about what they’ve shown us, and we think there’s a lot that we can do together.”
“We are looking to both drive ease of use and continue to drive the user experience and leverage AI to continue to create efficiencies with respect to our operational activities, technologies, etc.,” he added. “We are literally looking at this across all the advisor-facing applications, and we’ll drive it as broadly as it makes sense.”
iCapital will continue to rely on an open AI architecture model for the platform as a whole.
