As the use of artificial intelligence continues to grow in business and everyday life, Muhlenberg College has announced a new Bachelor of Arts degree in applied artificial intelligence.
The degree program is designed to meet the growing demand for professionals who can develop and apply artificial intelligence responsibly across a wide range of industries.
The program is built for adult learners and is delivered in a fully online, cohort-based format and culminates in a hands-on capstone experience that integrates learning across the curriculum.
Applications are now being accepted with classes beginning in fall 2026.
In a press release, school officials said artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming how organizations operate, make decisions, and serve people. Muhlenberg’s new program blends technical foundations with critical thinking and ethical reasoning, preparing students to navigate the complexities of AI development and deployment in a responsible, human-centered manner.
“As artificial intelligence becomes more embedded in everyday life and work, we have an obligation to help learners understand both the promise of these tools and the responsibility that comes with using them,” said Muhlenberg College President Kathleen Harring, Ph.D. “This new program reflects Muhlenberg’s commitment to a rigorous education that prepares students to think critically, communicate clearly, and lead thoughtfully in a changing world.”
Students in the B.A. in applied artificial intelligence will build knowledge of core AI principles and applications while exploring the ethical, social, and cultural implications of emerging technologies.
The goal is to have graduates that are prepared for careers that require both technical proficiency and a nuanced understanding of AI’s impact on society.
