In May, Anthropic committed to spend $200 billion with Google Cloud over five years under a recent agreement. This move underscores a strategic partnership between the companies, aimed at advancing computing capabilities for artificial intelligence.

According to the publication, this amount could indicate that Anthropic accounts for a significant portion of Google’s planned cloud-service commitments, with the figure expected to exceed 40% of the total obligations to cloud-business customers.

As part of the agreement, Anthropic also agreed to large-scale provisioning of computing resources to support the development of Claude models and other projects.

Compute Power and Technical Details

In addition, Anthropic has signed a multi-year deal with CoreWeave to increase available compute capacity. It is expected that nearly 1 gigawatt of capacity will be provided via Amazon chips by the end of the year. The company works with a range of hardware solutions: Trainium from Amazon Web Services, Google TPU, and Nvidia GPUs.

Alphabet, Google’s parent company, is also considering an investment of up to $40 billion in Anthropic, underscoring the deepening partnership and the ambitions of both giants in artificial intelligence and cloud technologies.

Contracts with Anthropic and OpenAI currently constitute a significant portion of the total value of outstanding contracts for leading cloud infrastructure providers, such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, totaling around two trillion dollars.

Alongside rising demand for Claude models and other solutions, Anthropic continues to sign new compute-resource deals and expand its influence in the global cloud ecosystem. In light of these developments, Alphabet is moving to maintain leadership in the global tech landscape, focusing on AI and cloud services.
