Google is preparing a new AI Ultra Lite subscription for the Gemini AI chatbot that will fall between the $20 Pro and $250 Ultra tariff plans with a corresponding average price. This is reported by 9to5google, which analysed APK files in the latest update of the macOS app.
The new intermediate tariff is codenamed “Neon” and is currently labelled as “Google AI Ultra Lite”, although this is probably not the final name. No information on the exact price is available yet, but it is reasonable to expect a range of $50 to $150 to separate it from Pro and Ultra. Anthropic and OpenAI already offer tariffs at the $100 level, so Google can focus on them.
What additional features Gemini will offer besides higher usage limits is anyone’s guess. Ultra currently offers exclusive features such as Project Genie, extended access to video and music generation in Flow, as well as NotebookLM and premium features in other Google services.
Along with the changes to subscriptions, the Gemini app indicates that tools for monitoring AI usage will be introduced, something that has been reported in previous analyses. There will be a separate page or dashboard where users can track their token budget and evaluate whether the chosen tariff meets their needs.
Anthropic offers a similar page for Claude users, which shows the percentage of tokens available in the current session, when the limit will be updated, and how much is left in the weekly budget. The Gemini dashboard is likely to work in a similar way. The available data shows that the system will take into account separate limits for five-hour sessions and a week, as well as allow the use of additional credits beyond the subscription.
