NEW YORK— Citigroup has launched a new internal platform designed to deploy artificial intelligence agents across its operations, a move aimed at reducing manual work and accelerating decision-making, PYMNTS reported.

The platform, known as Arc, is designed to support employees by handling tasks such as research, synthesis, preparation and execution, allowing staff to focus more on higher-value activities. Citi said the agents are intended to enhance—not replace—human judgment, while improving day-to-day efficiency across business lines, PYMNTS said.
In one example cited by the bank, wealth management teams that might typically spend hours preparing for client meetings can instead rely on AI agents to proactively compile and deliver relevant insights. That shift, Citi said, allows bankers to spend more time on client relationships and advisory work, evolving their role from coordination to strategy.
Citi added that more than 80% of its workforce with access to internal AI tools is already using them regularly, providing a foundation for the Arc rollout. The bank emphasized the system will include governance and audit controls, with initial use focused on targeted applications before broader deployment. Separate projections cited by Citi estimate the global AI market could exceed $4.2 trillion by 2030, including roughly $1.9 trillion tied to enterprise use cases, PYMNTS said.
