AWS has announced the general availability of Claude Platform on AWS, a new service that gives customers direct access to Anthropic’s native Claude Platform experience through their existing AWS account. AWS said it is the first cloud provider to offer access to the native Claude Platform experience.

The launch gives developers and enterprises the option to use Anthropic’s native application programming interfaces (APIs), Claude Console, and early-access beta features without creating separate accounts or managing separate billing and tracking.

What changes for AWS customers

With Claude Platform on AWS, customers can use existing AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) credentials and access controls. Usage is billed through AWS Marketplace, while AWS CloudTrail provides audit visibility for platform activity.

However, AWS has also clarified that Claude Platform on AWS is operated by Anthropic, and customer data is processed outside the AWS security boundary. The service is, therefore, aimed at development teams and enterprises that want Anthropic’s native Claude development experience and do not have specific regional data residency requirements.

Features available at launch

The platform includes Claude Managed Agents in beta, advisor strategy in beta, web search, web fetch, code execution, Files API in beta, Skills in beta, Model Context Protocol (MCP) connector in beta, prompt caching, citations, batch processing, and the Claude Console for prompt development and evaluation.

Where the service is available

Claude Platform on AWS is available across regions in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia Pacific. These include US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), Canada (Central), South America (São Paulo), Europe (Dublin, London, Frankfurt, Milan, Zurich, Paris, and Stockholm), and Asia Pacific locations such as Tokyo, Seoul, Melbourne, Jakarta, and Sydney.

How it differs from Amazon Bedrock

Claude Platform on AWS complements Claude models on Amazon Bedrock rather than replacing them. Anthropic operates Claude Platform on AWS, while AWS operates the inference stack for Claude in Amazon Bedrock. Anthropic’s documentation also states that Anthropic is the data processor for inference inputs and outputs in Claude Platform on AWS.
