  • May 19, 2026

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A new pilot program aims to help Oahu businesses and nonprofits bring AI training into the workplace.

The City and County of Honolulu’s Office of Economic Revitalization, Mapunawai and Skilled Tomorrow are launching “AI for Everyone at Work,” a free, one-day, train-the-trainer course.

Officials say it will equip leaders in management, HR and team development to teach AI fundamentals, prompt-writing and practical workplace uses, and how to introduce AI responsibly across multigenerational teams.

“With the increasing speed in tech advancements and AI adoption, upskilling is critical for our local workforce,” said Amy Asselbaye, executive director of the Office of Economic Revitalization.

The program is open to leaders at Oahu-based small businesses and nonprofits with 5 to 50 employees.

No prior AI experience is required, but applicants must submit a letter of support and agree to hold at least two internal trainings within six months.

Up to 12 participants will be selected, with notifications sent on June 3.

Anyone interested can find the application online at www.revitalizeoahu.org.
