AGI Greenpac has appointed Dushyant Kumar as Chief Operating Officer of its aluminium cans business as the packaging company accelerates expansion into the fast growing sustainable beverage packaging segment.
Kumar joins the organisation with more than three decades of experience in the metal packaging and beverage can industry, including senior leadership assignments at Canpack India and exposure across international markets. Over the years, he has worked across operations, supply chain management, and commercial strategy within large scale packaging businesses.
The appointment comes at a crucial stage for AGI Greenpac as the company builds its aluminium cans venture amid rising demand for recyclable and environmentally sustainable packaging solutions across the beverage industry.
Commenting on the development, Rajesh Khosla, Chief Executive Officer of AGI Greenpac, said the company’s expansion into aluminium cans aligns with changing consumer preferences and increasing global focus on sustainable packaging materials. He added that aluminium’s recyclability and long term sustainability potential make it a strategically important category for the company’s future growth plans.
Kumar said he was joining the organisation during a transformative phase and described the company’s move into aluminium cans as a forward looking step aligned with evolving market trends and sustainability priorities. He added that the focus would be on building a customer centric and operationally strong business in the segment.
Earlier this month, AGI Greenpac announced the groundbreaking of its greenfield aluminium beverage cans manufacturing facility in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. The proposed project involves an investment of nearly ₹1,000 crore and will initially include two production lines with a combined annual manufacturing capacity of 1.6 billion cans.
The company said the facility’s capacity could eventually be expanded to more than 2 billion cans annually through future operational enhancements. The plant is expected to become operational by FY28 and will cater to increasing demand from India’s beverage and packaged drinks market.
Industry analysts say beverage companies are increasingly shifting towards aluminium packaging as sustainability concerns, recycling efficiency, and premium packaging demand reshape global consumer preferences.
Experts also note that India’s aluminium beverage cans market is expected to witness significant growth over the coming years as packaged beverage consumption rises alongside stronger environmental regulations and circular economy initiatives.
