New Delhi: OpenAI is reportedly preparing a major update to ChatGPT as it looks to expand the platform beyond a chatbot and strengthen its business offerings ahead of a possible public listing.

As per media reports, the company is working on a significant overhaul that will position ChatGPT as a broader AI platform with enhanced coding capabilities, AI agents, and access to third-party services. The changes are expected to be rolled out over the coming weeks through updates to ChatGPT’s web and mobile applications.

The reported revamp is part of a wider internal restructuring at OpenAI, which is increasingly focusing on enterprise customers while stepping up competition with AI rival Anthropic. The company is also expected to give greater prominence to its coding product, Codex, as part of the new strategy.

According to the report, OpenAI is redesigning ChatGPT’s interface to encourage users to explore features such as coding tools, image generation, and partner services. Integrations with platforms including Canva and Booking.com are also expected to become more visible within the ChatGPT experience.

The company’s enterprise business has emerged as a key growth driver. Media reports suggest that around two million businesses currently contribute nearly 40% of OpenAI’s revenue, with that share projected to rise further by the end of the year.

OpenAI has also seen rapid growth in its user base. Earlier this year, the company said ChatGPT had crossed 900 million weekly active users and more than 50 million consumer subscribers.

The reported overhaul comes amid ongoing speculation about OpenAI’s plans to go public. While reports have indicated that the company may be preparing for a future IPO, CEO Sam Altman has previously said that OpenAI is not focused on a specific timeline and will consider a public listing when the timing is right.
