Pop-up Gemini prompts can interrupt focus in Google Docs. Learn quick document settings and account-level options to remove or reduce AI suggestions and restore a cleaner editor experience.

In Google Docs, Gemini AI pop-up tips sometimes appear, offering to ‘work with Gemini’. Such messages can distract from the writing process, so it’s worth knowing how to remove them or reduce their on-screen presence.

The first route is directly through the Google Docs interface. At the top of the toolbar, click the Gemini icon that appears next to the document title.

From the dropdown menu, select ‘Bottom panel settings’.

In this section you can completely disable the bottom panel – after this, the corresponding AI window will disappear from the bottom of the screen.

How to reduce AI integration at the account level

If you need to completely remove the prompts, you can disable ‘Smart features’ for the entire Google Workspace space via Gmail.

Sign in to Gmail. Open the settings menu and select ‘See all settings’.

Scroll to the ‘Google Workspace Smart Features’ section and click ‘Manage Smart Features settings for Workspace’.

In the dialog, choose one of two options: turn off Smart features in Google Workspace (for example, Gemini pop-up prompts in Google Docs) or apply the settings to other Smart features. Usually, it’s best to disable the first option.

After saving the changes, you will stop seeing the intrusive Gemini prompts in Google Docs, and the editing process will become calmer.
