Google has officially unveiled the key details of its new Google Home Speaker, which is the company’s first audio device built from the ground up for its Gemini artificial intelligence. The new hardware is a direct integration point for the “Gemini for Home” voice assistant, introducing advanced natural language understanding to the smart home ecosystem.

Google’s Gemini-powered Home Speaker price is set at $99.99. It is now available for pre-order and will officially hit retail shelves on June 25 in the US. The Google Home Speaker is launching globally in Porcelain and Hazel colour options, alongside two additional colours exclusive to the United States: Jade and Berry.

The Google Home Speaker ships with 10 new natural-sounding voice options, allowing users to customise their personal experience. Key software capabilities enabled by Gemini include:Logical execution: Users can apply logical constraints to their prompts, such as asking the device to “Turn off all the lights except for my bedside lamp.”Multi-command: Google says that the speaker can process multiple commands delivered in a single breath, like dimming the kitchen lights, playing music and setting a timer simultaneously.Mid-sentence corrections: The Gemini assistant can track real-time speech corrections if a user changes their mind mid-prompt, automatically adjusting to phrases like, “Turn off the coffee maker… I meant turn it on!”Multi-step reasoning: Gemini can deduce answers to complex questions by connecting separate data points. For example, asking about the weather for an upcoming baseball game will prompt Gemini to find the game’s time, locate the stadium, and check the specific forecast for kickoff.Short-term memory context: The assistant maintains conversational context during back-and-forth interactions. With the “Continued Conversation” feature now expanded to all supported languages, the microphone stays open briefly after a response so users can ask follow-up questions without repeating the “Ok Google” wake phrase.

On the hardware side, the Google Home Speaker is engineered with a balanced, 360-degree sound signature designed to deliver clear audio across entire rooms. Its microphone processing system has also been updated to filter out environmental noise to help Gemini better understand spoken prompts. For home entertainment setups, users can link up to two Google Home Speakers with a Google TV Streamer to create a spatial surround-sound environment.
Google Home Premium integration
Customers looking to unlock advanced AI capabilities can subscribe to the Google Home Premium tier. This subscription opens access to features such as Gemini Live for engaging in free-flowing, casual chats; Camera history search for asking the speaker to analyse and describe recent security footage captured on their Nest cameras and Home briefs detailing the notable activities or events that occurred around the house while the user was away.
