{"id":10081,"date":"2026-04-21T10:52:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-21T10:52:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/10081\/"},"modified":"2026-04-21T10:52:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-21T10:52:08","slug":"marvell-stock-jumps-overnight-on-buzz-of-custom-google-ai-chip-talks-retail-bulls-cheer-loudly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/10081\/","title":{"rendered":"Marvell Stock Jumps Overnight On Buzz Of Custom Google AI Chip Talks: Retail Bulls Cheer Loudly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Marvell could end up designing two chips for Google, including a next-gen TPU, according to a report in The Information.<\/p>\n<p>Marvell shares jumped 10% in the overnight session.Marvell will make custom chips for Google; the search giant has previously purchased off-the-shelf data center chips from Marvell.Semiconductor stocks, led by Intel, AMD and memory chip firms, have climbed sharply so far in April.<\/p>\n<p>Marvell Technology Inc.\u2019s shares jumped\u00a0nearly 8% in the overnight session heading into Monday, with the ticker trending among the top five on Stocktwits, after reports of talks of a major tie-up with Google.<\/p>\n<p>Google is reportedly in discussions with Marvell to develop two chips\u00a0aimed at\u00a0improving the efficiency of AI model operations, according to a Sunday report by The Information, citing two people with direct knowledge of the discussions.<\/p>\n<p>One of the chips is said to be a memory-focused processor that would complement Google\u2019s existing tensor processing units (TPUs), while the other is a next-generation TPU tailored specifically for AI inference workloads.<\/p>\n<p>While Google has bought data center chips from Marvell before, those purchases were off-the-shelf, whereas the current discussions aim to design semiconductors exclusively for Google\u2019s needs, according to the\u00a0<a class=\"st-link-external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theinformation.com\/articles\/google-talks-marvell-build-new-ai-chips-inference?rc=prcjzy\">report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>AI Industry Eyes Custom Inference Chips<\/p>\n<p>The development highlights the growing need for inference chips that power real-world AI applications, including autonomous agents and other commercial systems.<\/p>\n<p>At its March GTC event, Nvidia unveiled a new inference-focused chip \u2013 dubbed a language processing unit \u2013 built using technology licensed from startup Groq in a $20 billion deal.<\/p>\n<p>Google has been pushing to make its TPUs a viable alternative to Nvidia&#8217;s dominant GPUs, and their sales have become a key driver of growth in Alphabet\u2019s cloud revenue, according to a Reuters\u00a0<a class=\"st-link-external\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/google-works-erode-nvidias-software-advantage-with-metas-help-2025-12-17\/\">report<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/stocktwits.com\/news-articles\/markets\/equity\/intc-amd-msft-dell-stocks-rally-is-old-guard-of-big-tech-back-in-vogue\/cZJUg2xRIxJ\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Like its chipmaking peers<\/a>, Marvell has surged sharply this month,\u00a0jumping 41%. In March, the company projected nearly 40% revenue growth in fiscal 2028 to around $15 billion \u2013 well above the $12.92 billion analyst consensus from LSEG \u2013 while also nudging up its fiscal 2027 outlook.<\/p>\n<p>Retail View On MRVL<\/p>\n<p>On Stocktwits, the retail sentiment for MRVL remained \u2018bullish,\u2019 unchanged since Friday, while the message volume for the ticker rose 85% in the last 24 hours.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes! This is great news and probably accounts for Friday&#8217;s ramp. Very nice. Curb your enthusiasm though as taco digs his heal [sic] in with Iran. Markets definitely tamped tomorrow. Patience,\u201d a user\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/stocktwits.com\/akroller\/message\/650718597\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">remarked<\/a>,\u00a0referring to the market trader acronym of \u201cTrump Always Chickens Out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan&#8217;t believe I&#8217;m in on this at $87 a share.
