\n\tEarlier today, George Lucas<\/a>, Jodie Foster<\/a>, Sigourney Weaver<\/a>, Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and French filmmaker Claude Lelouch (A Man and a Woman) were awarded the Legion of Honor<\/a> at the \u00c9lys\u00e9e Palace in Paris by President Emmanuel Macron<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tLucas, Foster, Weaver and Meledandri were presented with the insignia of Chevalier de la L\u00e9gion d\u2019honneur, which is equivalent to a knighthood. Lelouch was given the insignia of Commandeur de l\u2019ordre national du M\u00e9rite, which is roughly equivalent to the British rank of Commander.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn presenting Meledandri with the honor, Macron cited the Minions mogul\u2019s ability to create characters that \u201cinhabit our collective imagination.\u201d The French leader praised the \u201cFranco-American partnership\u201d Meledandri created with Jacques Bled when they founded Illumination Studios in Paris in 2011. Also cited was Meledandri\u2019s support for the inauguration of France<\/a>\u2018s international tax credit in 2009.<\/p>\n

\n\tCreated in 1802 by Napoleon, the Legion of Honor is France\u2019s highest distinction.
