{"id":1080,"date":"2026-04-08T22:08:24","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T22:08:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/1080\/"},"modified":"2026-04-08T22:08:24","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T22:08:24","slug":"visa-aims-to-give-businesses-agentic-commerce-on-ramp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/1080\/","title":{"rendered":"Visa Aims to Give Businesses Agentic Commerce on-Ramp"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.visa.com\/en-us\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Visa<\/a>\u00a0has introduced a tool designed to help businesses take part in AI-powered commerce.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Intelligent Commerce Connect, part of the Visa Intelligence Commerce program, serves as a \u201cnetwork, protocol, and token vault-agnostic \u2018on ramp\u2019 to agentic commerce for agent builders, merchants, and enablers,\u201d Visa said in a Wednesday (April 8) news release.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The company said the new offering aims to help businesses meet rising consumer use of artificial intelligence (AI) agents for making purchases, allowing for payment initiation,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/tag\/tokenization\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">tokenization<\/a>, spend controls and authentication through an integration with Visa Acceptance Platform.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The solution integrates\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/ecommerce\/2026\/visa-says-ai-can-shop-but-trust-still-has-to-close-the-sale\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Visa Intelligent Commerce<\/a>\u00a0APIs, used to process agent purchases using Visa cards, as well as other networks\u2019 APIs, letting agents pay with Visa and non-Visa cards.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cFrom small businesses to the world\u2019s biggest retailers, Visa powers how people pay every day, millions of times over,\u201d said Andrew Torre, president of value\u2011added services at Visa. \u201cIntelligent Commerce Connect brings that same, trusted payment acceptance infrastructure into the emerging world of AI-driven commerce, so businesses can let\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/tag\/ai-agents\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AI agents<\/a>\u00a0buy on behalf of consumers, securely and at scale.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Visa says the tool is now being piloted with a select group of partners, including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/aws.amazon.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">AWS<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.shopdiddo.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Diddo<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/highnote.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Highnote<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/meshpayments.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mesh<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/payabli.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Payabli<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sumvin.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sumvin<\/a>, with more to be added later in the year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\">Advertisement: Scroll to Continue<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Visa\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/visa\/2025\/visa-powers-ai-shopping-agents-with-intelligent-commerce-payment-rails\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">debuted<\/a>\u00a0the Intelligence Commerce program last year, opening its rails to developers building AI agents that search, recommend and pay on behalf of consumers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As noted here at the time, the stakes are substantial, with generative AI platforms influencing what people buy. The missing link, PYMTS wrote, is a payment mechanism invisible to consumers and accepted by merchants.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis is going to transform shopping and buying \u2014 we\u2019re letting AI developers and engineers use the Visa network to allow AI agents to find, and buy, on [the consumer\u2019s]\u00a0 behalf in a seamless and safe way,\u201d\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/mnelsen\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mark Nelsen<\/a>, Visa\u2019s global head of consumer products, said in interview with PYMNTS CEO Karen Webster before the launch.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, recent PYMNTS Intelligence research commissioned by Visa Acceptance Solutions finds that a growing share of acquirers now believe the foundational infrastructure for agentic commerce has already been built.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/study\/how-acquirers-prepare-for-agentic-commerce\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Almost 80%<\/a>\u00a0of surveyed acquirers said they are at least somewhat ready to support seamless omnichannel shopping experiences, a requirement for any system where autonomous agents transact across digital and physical environments.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis could represent a notable shift,\u201d PYMNTS wrote. \u201cPayments modernization has historically\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pymnts.com\/news\/payments-innovation\/2026\/what-it-takes-to-be-merchant-ready-for-agentic-commerce\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">lagged behind<\/a> consumer-facing innovation, constrained by legacy systems and regulatory complexity.
