JPMorgan Chase & Co. CEO Jamie Dimon warned that the risks stemming from Anthropic’s Mythos AI model are a “real issue,” adding that U.S. government officials are now focused on addressing the potential risks. <\/p>\n
Dimon raised concerns about the consequences of broadly distributing the powerful AI systems, Bloomberg reported. He warned that giving widespread access to Mythos could create risks comparable to “giving ballistic missiles to individuals,” the CEO said during Republican Sen. Dave McCormick’s Pennsylvania Defense and Innovation Summit.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

In April, Anthropic announced that it would be launching Project Glasswing, a defensive cybersecurity initiative that utilizes a highly advanced, unreleased “Claude Mythos” AI model. Instead of releasing the model publicly, Anthropic initially partnered with more than 50 organizations, including Google, Microsoft and Apple, to proactively scan and patch critical software vulnerabilities before adversarial AI can exploit them, the company explained.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
Anthropic has since added more companies to the project, expanding its access to approximately 150 new organizations, the company noted last month. <\/p>\n
“Project Glasswing and the capabilities of Claude Mythos Preview have sparked broad conversations \u2014 both within the software industry and with governments \u2014 about how AI is changing cybersecurity,” Anthropic said. <\/p>\n
“We see our role as twofold. First, to help the software industry adapt by safely providing wide access to better models, tools and common infrastructure. Second, to steadily shift the support we provide, from finding vulnerabilities to disclosing, fixing, and deploying patched software,” the company stated at the time.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
