Databricks said on Thursday it would expand its partnership with Microsoft through the 2030s, a deal under which it will increase its use of the Azure platform<\/a> and Microsoft’s custom chips<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Databricks offers a platform that helps users \u200cingest, \u2060analyse and \u2060build AI applications<\/a> using complex data from various sources.<\/p>\n

One of the most valuable private companies, the San Francisco-based firm’s move marks a sizeable win for Microsoft’s Azure cloud business<\/a> and comes as enterprise AI adoption<\/a> accelerates.<\/p>\n

Databricks \u200bsaid it would increase Azure \u2060usage to \u200crun its own core business operations \u200band analytics, \u200band also boost its usage of \u2060Azure Cobalt, Microsoft’s Arm-based custom processors, for data-intensive \u200band agentic AI workloads.<\/p>\n

Under the partnership, Microsoft will also continue integrating Databricks’ AI capabilities across its products, including Databricks’ conversational analytics tool<\/a> Genie, to strengthen enterprise AI offerings.<\/p>\n

“With Databricks deepening its investment in Azure Databricks and Azure Cobalt-powered infrastructure, \u200ccustomers will benefit from greater performance, efficiency, and scale for their most demanding \u200bworkloads,” said \u200bJudson Althoff, CEO \u2060of Microsoft’s Commercial Business.<\/p>\n

Databricks said last week it had signed off on a funding round that values the firm at $188 billion, with the round expected to close later this summer.
