According to the data provided by Anthropic through benchmarks, Opus 5 is better than Fable 5 on 10 out of 14 metrics.For example, in software engineering terms on Frontier-Bench, Opus 5 surpasses all competing models, more than doubling the performance of older versions while reducing cost-per-task. On CursorBench 3.2, it performs within 0.5% of Fable 5\u2019s peak score at half the cost.When it comes to problem-solving and automation, on ARC-AGI 3, Opus 5 scored three times higher than the next-best model in solving novel problems. On OSWorld 2.0, Opus 5 outperforms every other tested model, beating Fable 5\u2019s best result at just over one-third of the cost for compute use.\u201cOpus 5 excels on valuable software engineering tasks. For example, on Frontier-Bench v0.1, Opus 5 surpasses all other models, and more than doubles Opus 4.8\u2019s performance at a lower cost per task. On CursorBench 3.2, at max effort, the model performs within 0.5% of Fable 5\u2019s peak score, but at half the cost per task; it also achieves greater performance at a given cost than all other models on high, xhigh, and max effort,\u201d Anthropic added.Despite its coding prowess, Anthropic noted that Opus 5 is intentionally kept behind its sister models on dual-use security evaluations, maintaining safeguards against high-risk cybersecurity threats, as per CNBC.The rollout of Claude Opus 5 arrives as tech companies race to win over enterprise clients who are hesitant to spend heavily on experimental AI without a clear return on investment.
