At the same time, domestic asset management companies have also started to take the lead by releasing related products one after another. Optical communication is a technology that transmits and receives data using light (optical signal) instead of electric signals from existing wires. It is considered a key infrastructure that will solve data bottlenecks caused by a surge in traffic due to learning ultra-large AI models and drastically reduce power consumption.<\/p>\n<p>\u25c6Samsung Management maximizes concentrated returns on three key U.S. stocks\n<\/p>\n<p>Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that invest in U.S. optical communication stocks listed in Korea include Samsung Asset Management&#8217;s &#8220;KODEX U.S. AI Optical Communication Network&#8221; and NH Amundi Asset Management&#8217;s &#8220;HANARO U.S. AI Optical Communication TOP10.&#8221; Samsung, which dominated the market flow, attracted 380 billion won in funds with a return of about 30% in three and a half months of listing, and NH Amundi recently challenged it. If you look inside the two products that advocate the same &#8220;American optical communication&#8221; and look like the same theme, it shows a portfolio of &#8220;same dream&#8221; in which the design philosophy and the target are completely different.\n<\/p>\n<p>The first difference between the two products is in the concentration of the top stocks. The starter, KODEX, has taken an &#8220;ultra-compression&#8221; strategy that focuses on certain key stocks. Only three stocks, Lumentum Holdings (23.5%), Coherent (20.8%), and Siena (20.6%), accounted for 64.9%, effectively approaching the &#8220;TOP 3&#8221; ETF. It is a structure that can maximize returns when certain shareholders explode.\n<\/p>\n<p>HANARO, a latecomer, chose &#8220;Value Chain Equalization,&#8221; which evenly distributes 54.4% of its assets to the four leading stocks: Lumentum Holdings (15.5%), Coherent (14.8%), Marvell Technology Group (14.4%), and Corning (9.7%). It is designed to keep pace with the average growth of the overall optical communication ecosystem while defending the risk of shaking the entire index due to volatility in specific stocks.\n<\/p>\n<p>This portfolio composition eventually resulted from differences in perspectives on &#8220;where to view the destination of the benefit.&#8221; KODEX pays attention to finished wired infrastructure equipment and systems that big tech companies such as Microsoft, Google, and Meta must finally purchase and lay down AI data centers in large quantities. In fact, Sienna, the world&#8217;s No. 1 company in optical transmission equipment, is a network equipment company that connects communication networks between global mega data centers, showing KODEX&#8217;s strategy to focus on large system companies that generate direct sales when actual infrastructure orders begin.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u25c6 Amundi Operation focuses on parts supply chain\n<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, HANARO focuses on the supply chain of key fine components that must be packaged together when Nvidia GPU chipsets are sold and leans on Nvidia&#8217;s control of the ecosystem. A typical example is Mabel, a leader of AI optical communication semiconductor design (Fabless). Marvell supplies digital signal processing (DSP) chipsets for high-speed data transmission, and is at the top of HANARO, in contrast to the 5.6% proportion of Marvell within KODEX. LUMENTUM Holdings (23.5% of KODEX, 15.5% of HANARO) and KODEX (20.8% of HANARO 14.8%), which both products contain high proportions, are key material and parts companies that divide optical transceivers (devices that switch electrical signals and optical signals) and optical laser parts. These are representative events that directly benefit from the explosion of demand for optical modules connecting switches and servers in AI data centers. In addition, KODEX 6% and HANARO 9.7%, the unrivaled leader in special glass and fiber optics, are also key players in supplying ultra-high-density optical cable infrastructure that will handle soaring data traffic.\n<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;HANARO U.S. AI Optical Communications TOP10 has significantly increased the proportion of optical materials and semiconductor chipset stocks that are expected to benefit from the field in line with the accelerated penetration of optical communication from long distance to ultra-close joint optical packaging (CPO),&#8221; said Kim Seung-chul, head of the ETF investment division at NH Amundi Asset Management. &#8220;Mabel and Corning are companies that are highly related to the Nvidia ecosystem, such as Nvidia investing preemptively or signing close partnerships.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>From an investor&#8217;s point of view, KODEX is suitable if they want to benefit from a certain rally in the market, even if it is volatile, or if they want to benefit from the performance turnaround of finished equipment owners following the establishment of a data center network of big tech companies. On the other hand, HANARO is considered an alternative if you want to keep your feet stable with the growth of the entire supply chain of a solid AI ecosystem composed mainly of Nvidia.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u25c6 Products incorporated into domestic companies are heavily influenced by defense market stocks\n<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, &#8220;KoAct Optical Communication &amp; Satellite Network Active&#8221; (Samsung Active Asset Management), which focuses on domestic companies, is also listed in the domestic capital market, but the results are very different from those of U.S. optical communication ETFs. Listed on the 14th, the product includes domestic optical and high-frequency small-scale companies such as RF Materials (8.34%), Fiber Pro (6.3%), and RFHIC (4.6%).\n<\/p>\n<p>However, large defense and aerospace leaders such as Korea Aerospace (7.8%), Hanwha Aerospace (6.4%), and LIG NexOne (4.5%) are located at the top of the portfolio. For this reason, some in the market say, &#8220;The product has put forward optical communication, but if you open your portfolio, the color of defense and space themes is much stronger.&#8221;\n<\/p>\n<p>In order to directly absorb the benefits of global data center orders, which are the core of the AI ecosystem, domestic optical communication companies have limited weight and influence in the supply chain. Furthermore, as the market capitalization of pure optical communication-related stocks is small, the direction of the index as a whole has structural limitations that are more affected by the stock prices of defense stocks.\n<\/p>\n<p>The ETF to be steamed this week introduces ETFs, which are friends of diversified investment and friendly financial products every week.
