London, July 28 (Reuters) \u2013 a British lawmaker who is suing Elon Musk and his xAI over fake sexually explicit images created by the Grok platform said on Tuesday that she is considering a court order that would ban the chatbot from generating sexually explicit images without the consent of the person depicted.<\/p>\n
Jess Asato, a member of the Labour Party, said last month that users had created fake images of her, including videos in which she was chloroformed and prepared for a sexual assault, after she publicly criticized Musk and Grok.<\/p>\n
She filed a lawsuit in the High Court of London for misuse of private information and breach of data protection laws, and she claims that the way Grok was designed and trained allowed the chatbot to generate sexually explicit content.<\/p>\n
The filing signals an intent to require xAI to implement \u201ceffective and permanent technical measures\u201d to ensure that Grok cannot create altered images of Asato. According to her lawyers, such a demand could have implications for all AI developers and would be a precedent that has not previously applied privacy protections to an AI developer in a similar context.<\/p>\n

This suit comes amid growing concerns about Grok\u2019s use after earlier this year it was announced that Grok would restrict image editing and block the creation of images of people wearing clothing that reveals exposed body parts \u201cwhere it is illegal\u201d.<\/p>\n
Reuters previously found that even under the new restrictions Grok continued to generate sexually explicit images of people when users clearly warned that the faces did not consent to such content.<\/p>\n
Baltimore city authorities filed a lawsuit against xAI in March over fabricated sexually explicit images generated by Grok, becoming one of several filings in the United States and in other European countries regarding similar cases.<\/p>\n
So far, xAI has not provided official comments regarding the review of Grok and its obligations to regulators, while Grok remains in the spotlight due to growing attention to the ethical and legal aspects of AI use.<\/p>\n
