Google is expanding access to Gemini Spark, a personal AI agent designed to carry out routine digital tasks automatically, to Google AI Pro subscribers in India over the coming weeks. The tool, already available to Google AI Ultra and Pro subscribers, is built to work in the background even when a user’s device is closed or locked, drawing on Google’s cloud infrastructure to connect directly with Workspace applications such as Gmail, Docs and Sheets.<\/p>\n
Unlike existing AI assistants that respond to individual queries, Spark is positioned by Google as a tool that performs ongoing tasks on a user’s behalf without needing to be prompted each time. It is powered by Gemini 3.6 Flash and is intended to handle repetitive digital chores, such as sorting emails or tracking bookings, under instructions set in advance by the user.<\/p>\n
According to Google, users retain control over when Spark is active and which applications it can access. The company has said the tool is designed to seek confirmation before carrying out actions it considers high-stakes, such as spending money or sending emails on a user’s behalf.<\/p>\n
Google has suggested a range of ways the tool could be applied, based on different everyday scenarios. These include automatically logging flight and hotel confirmations into a travel spreadsheet, compiling a weekly document of local events and activities, checking a third-party booking app for available sports court slots, and organising wedding RSVP responses from Gmail into a table for a caterer.<\/p>\n
Other suggested uses include auditing monthly digital invoices for subscription price increases or expiring free trials, drafting responses to customer enquiries received by email, and analysing a user’s past emails to build a personalised “style guide” that Spark can later apply when drafting messages.<\/p>\n
Google describes the launch as part of a broader move toward AI tools that carry out tasks independently, rather than only answering questions when asked.<\/p>\n
