Kevin Stitt, the chairman, spoke alongside Maryland Gov. Wes Moore about artificial intelligence and data center policies.  <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"2\">Both governors discussed artificial intelligence in depth, specifically parameters for data centers and how they are handling the growing industry.  <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"3\">Stitt said Oklahoma has taken steps to protect landowners and homeowners through the Ratepayer Protection Plan, which is designed to keep residential consumers from paying extra electrical fees. <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"4\">WATCH: Gov. Kevin Stitt speaks on National Governors Association summer meeting in OKC<\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"6\">He also mentioned closed water systems for data centers and strict permitting guidelines. <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"7\">&#8220;If a tech company follows all the rules and owns land, they will be allowed to build in Oklahoma,&#8221; Stitt said, emphasizing his belief in the free market.  <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"8\">Moore shared Maryland&#8217;s approach, saying, &#8220;The data center companies have to bring their own energy supply and pay for their own upgrades, and they cannot ask taxpayers to help with those things.&#8221;  <\/p>\n<p data-node-id=\"9\">Both governors highlighted the importance of establishing clear parameters for data centers as artificial intelligence continues to expand.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Governors address AI, data center policies during National Governors Association meeting Oklahoma Gov.
