We started calling chip fabs. We started calling energy providers and everyone’s like, ‘You’re totally crazy. This is impossible. No industry has ever moved like this. We’ve been around. There’s these booms and busts. It’s not going to go up in a straight line. This is reckless,'” Altman recalled.

The experience, Altman said, reminded him of “fundraising for an early-stage startup.”

“Most people tell you no, but all you need is one or two yeses,” he said. “Most people told us no. And we got one or two yeses and we were able to start building.”

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said Silicon Valley luminaries taught him how to be ok with standing out when…

[7
1752,2517,63694,9396,1020,63693,21588,157,17222,63691,4040,3229,63695,370,63692,3553
post-127161","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-openai","tag-best","tag-day","tag-good-company","tag-gpt-4","tag-investing","tag-key-lesson","tag-one","tag-openai","tag-openai-ceo","tag-paul-graham","tag-peter-thiel","tag-podcast","tag-realization","tag-sam-altman","tag-silicon-valley-luminary","tag-thing
["GET
