Replies were brutal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">OpenAI may have an AI agent that promises to produce \u201cshare-ready work,\u201d but the company\u2019s CEO went public with an arguably unshare-ready take on what to do with it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Friday, Altman posted on X that \u201ca cool use case\u201d for the company\u2019s\u00a0<a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2026\/08\/01\/sam-altman-is-still-making-the-case-for-parenting-via-chatgpt\/\" href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2026\/08\/01\/sam-altman-is-still-making-the-case-for-parenting-via-chatgpt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">ChatGPT Work agent<\/a>\u00a0is to \u201cconnect your family calendars and explain your kids\u2019 interests\u201d and then \u201chave it make a podcast that talks about one kid\u2019s soccer game that afternoon, one kid\u2019s upcoming birthday, some news, etc.\u201d every day on the drive to school.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He didn\u2019t exactly get ratioed\u2026but several snarky replies got way more likes than\u00a0<a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/x.com\/sama\/status\/2083221585792762171\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/sama\/status\/2083221585792762171\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the original post<\/a>. One of the more modulated criticisms said: \u201cusing AI in place of real human connection is the worst possible use case for it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But AI execs want busy parents\u2019 bucks<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And some use cases for AI for family management are gaining more traction than others. In a recent feature, the New Yorker overviewed the myriad ways AI is trying to monetize relief from \u201cthe cognitive load of domestic admin\u201d:<\/p>\n<p>AI-enabled family support apps include Ollie, Cozi, and Ava, which can pull data from emails and calendars to send family text messages about important daily activities, remember birthdays, manage shareable lists, and flag deadlines for registration and bills.<\/p>\n<p>AI-enhanced smart calendars, like Skylight and Cozyla, create shared visuals for all family members to keep them on track, and can also serve as reward trackers and photo albums.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Allison Stern, the founder of a VC firm focused on mothers as consumers, recently wrote for Fortune that moms \u201c<a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/2026\/06\/03\/ai-startups-mothers-consumer-market-venture-capital\/\" href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2026\/06\/03\/ai-startups-mothers-consumer-market-venture-capital\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">need outcomes, not interfaces<\/a>.\u201d When AI companies can really solve problems, she argues, they gain entr\u00e9e into the market of 85 million American moms.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Zoom out:\u00a0Stern noted that \u201cmothers make 85% of household purchases and control roughly $2.4 trillion in annual consumer spending in the United States.\u201d A recent market analysis for AI in childcare and parenting predicted that the segment would be worth almost $42 billion by 2035.\u2014HVL<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.morningbrew.com\/stories\/altmans-recommendation-sparks-debate-about-ai-in-parenting\" href=\"https:\/\/www.morningbrew.com\/stories\/altmans-recommendation-sparks-debate-about-ai-in-parenting\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">report<\/a> was originally published by <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.morningbrew.com\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.morningbrew.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Morning Brew<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Subscribe to\u00a0Fortune Gulf Brief.
