Singapore-based ride-hailing\/delivery platform\u00a0Grab<\/a>\u00a0is touting its artificial intelligence (AI) use amid increasing revenues.<\/p>\n

\u201cAI is now embedded in the Grab way of life, whether it\u2019s in our products or the way we work,\u201d\u00a0Peter Oey<\/a>, chief financial officer of the ride-hailing and delivery platform, told CNBC in an\u00a0interview<\/a>\u00a0published Tuesday (Aug. 4).<\/p>\n

He said AI has helped Grab\u00a0ship goods<\/a>\u00a0more than 30% faster, which means better margins and a more efficient cost structure, the report said. Oey added that Grab recorded a 28% increase year over year in the number of rides in the second quarter, \u201cone of the highest that we\u2019ve seen.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the report, revenues were up 22% year on year to $997 million with Grab\u2019s operating profit at $19 million, a 186% increase.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re seeing demand continue to be very strong in the business in the month of July itself, and our financial services continue to scale and are at an inflection point today,\u201d Oey said.<\/p>\n

During Grab\u2019s earnings call in May, management discussed the rewards the company had reaped from other AI tools.<\/p>\n

For example, Grab\u2019s\u00a0\u201cTurbo\u201d mode, an AI-powered tool<\/a> for drivers, reportedly boosted hourly earnings by 23% by optimizing routes and timing. In Grab\u2019s retail business, a digital assistant named \u201cMai\u201d has been adopted by half of Grab\u2019s single-store merchants, helping lead to a 15% increase in sales for those users.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the CNBC report said Oey also discussed Grab\u2019s agreement to\u00a0purchase<\/a>\u00a0Delivery Hero\u2019s foodpanda business in Taiwan, saying the company was working with regulators but had not yet closed the deal, something it hopes will happen in the latter half of 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of the products that the Southeast Asian community has been seeing and using day in and day out, we want to bring to the Taiwan market as well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
