{"id":129392,"date":"2026-08-04T18:22:08","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T18:22:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/129392\/"},"modified":"2026-08-04T18:22:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T18:22:08","slug":"nsf-announces-100m-grant-program-for-state-regional-ai-infrastructure-hubs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/129392\/","title":{"rendered":"NSF announces $100M grant program for state, regional AI infrastructure hubs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Science Foundation on Tuesday announced a $100 million program for the development of state and regional artificial intelligence hubs, which the agency said will provide funding for research, education and workforce development in AI.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nsf.gov\/funding\/opportunities\/us-national-science-foundation-state-regional-artificial\/nsf26-513\/solicitation\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NSF State and Regional Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Hubs<\/a>\u00a0program will help establish flexible state and multi-state regional partnerships that may include research institutions, philanthropic organizations, state and local governments and the\u202fprivate sector. These hubs will build and operate cutting-edge scientific technologies for researchers, students and educators in the area, and expand access to the infrastructure, data and other AI resources for frontier sciences.<\/p>\n<p>The agency said in a news release that it plans to play a \u201ccatalytic role\u201d role in the program through the capital investment, aiding in coordination, AI infrastructure workforce development, science faculty training and curriculum development to put \u201ccompute resources\u201d to work for scientific discovery.<\/p>\n<p>The program follows a 122-page Trump administration\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Science-A-New-Golden-Age.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">report<\/a>\u00a0published last month titled \u201cScience: A New Golden Age,\u201d\u00a0which lays a policy foundation for renewing America\u2019s research and development enterprise. The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Director Michael Kratsios called the report a <a href=\"https:\/\/fedscoop.com\/ostp-michael-kratsios-white-house-nsf-grants\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">roadmap<\/a> for the president\u2019s science and tech priorities last month.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Through the initial $100 million in funding, NSF will support up to 10 AI infrastructure hubs; only one award will be made per state or region. In addition to combining resources across states and institutions, each hub will also need to partner with a regional industry to align the investments with science workforce development and local job market needs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmerican scientists deserve the world\u2019s best tools to enable their most ambitious work,\u201d Kratsios, said in a news release. \u201cIn\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/Science-A-New-Golden-Age.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Science: A New Golden Age<\/a>, we called for expanding access to world-class R&amp;D infrastructure, including advanced compute, to reflect how science is conducted today. These hubs deliver on that commitment in the most practical way possible.
