\u2022 What should traders watch with HII?<\/a><\/p>\n

The two companies recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to “collaborate on advancing Applied Intuition’s Warship OS, an AI-defined operating system that integrates data and AI,” according to a Huntington Ingalls press release.<\/a><\/p>\n

This partnership aims to improve ship performance, accelerate the deployment of data and AI across all ship systems, and enable scalable autonomy for both unmanned and crewed vessels.<\/p>\n

“By combining HII’s extensive shipbuilding and unmanned maritime expertise with Applied Intuition’s advanced AI capabilities, we are accelerating the development of AI-defined warships that can adapt to rapidly evolving mission needs,” said Eric Chewning, Huntington Ingalls executive vice president of Maritime Systems and Corporate Strategy.<\/p>\n

Under the agreement, Huntington Ingalls and Applied Intuition plan to integrate Applied’s commercial operating system software into Huntington Ingalls\u2019 ROMULUS family of unmanned surface vessels, currently under construction.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The collaboration will also explore expanding Warship OS to future crewed naval platforms, focusing on early-stage design and engineering aligned with evolving U.S. Navy requirements, open architecture, interoperability and rapid capability insertion, the company stated.<\/p>\n

“Warship OS is a fundamental shift in how naval capability is developed and deployed,” said Peter Ludwig, co-founder and CTO of Applied Intuition. <\/p>\n

“By bringing an AI-defined approach to maritime platforms, we can dramatically accelerate the pace of innovation and give operators the flexibility to adapt to evolving mission needs in real time. Partnering with HII allows us to pair world-class shipbuilding with modern software infrastructure to define the next generation of naval power,” Ludwig added.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Huntington Ingalls announced it was advancing efforts<\/a> to integrate advanced AI technologies into its shipbuilding operations as part of its broader push to modernize production.<\/p>\n

The company signed an MOU with GrayMatter Robotics to explore deploying its physical AI in shipbuilding operations, with a goal to improve throughput, efficiency and workforce support.<\/p>\n

These initiatives support Huntington Ingalls’ broader push to modernize production, following a 14% increase in shipbuilding throughput in 2025 and a targeted 15% increase in 2026. The partnership with GrayMatter is expected to support HII’s High-Yield Production Robotics (HYPR) program.<\/p>\n

Founded in 2017, Applied Intuition serves the automotive, defense, trucking, construction, mining and agriculture industries, focusing on tools and infrastructure, operating systems, and autonomy. The California-based physical AI company is now valued at $15 billion.<\/p>\n
