{"id":135371,"date":"2026-08-10T20:32:14","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T20:32:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/135371\/"},"modified":"2026-08-10T20:32:14","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T20:32:14","slug":"microsoft-plans-to-unveil-next-generation-ai-chip-in-september-the-information-reports-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/135371\/","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft plans to unveil next-generation AI chip in September, The Information reports"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft is in talks with TSMC\u00a0to secure manufacturing capacity for more than 300,000 units of the chip<\/p>\n<p>A view shows a Microsoft logo at Microsoft offices in Issy-les-Moulineaux near Paris, France, March 25, 2024. \u2014 REUTERS   <\/p>\n<p>Microsoft\u00a0is planning to unveil its new Maia 300 AI chip this fall, potentially as soon \u200bas next month, The Information reported on Monday, citing people \u200cwith direct knowledge of the plans.<\/p>\n<p>The company introduced its Maia AI chip in November 2023 but has lagged rivals such as Alphabet and Amazon\u00a0in scaling up \u200bits in-house chip efforts as it seeks to reduce its \u200breliance on Nvidia&#8217;s\u00a0costly processors.<\/p>\n<p>Google began\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/google-quarterly-cloud-revenue-growth-beats-expectations-2026-07-22\/\" target=\"_blank\">recognising revenue<\/a>\u00a0from direct sales \u2060of its custom AI chips, called Tensor Processing Units, in the \u200bquarter ended June, while Amazon has also seen growing adoption of its \u200bprocessors, including its Trainium chips.<\/p>\n<p>Microsoft has been in talks with chipmaker TSMC\u00a0to secure manufacturing capacity for more than 300,000 units of the chip for delivery in \u200b2027, according to the report. It is also looking to significantly \u200bramp up production and persuade major cloud customers such as Anthropic to adopt the \u200cchip.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Microsoft \u2060continues to invest in custom silicon as part of our long-term AI infrastructure strategy.
