{"id":135853,"date":"2026-08-11T09:42:17","date_gmt":"2026-08-11T09:42:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/135853\/"},"modified":"2026-08-11T09:42:17","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T09:42:17","slug":"riot-stock-surges-after-securing-20-year-anthropic-ai-infrastructure-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/135853\/","title":{"rendered":"Riot stock surges after securing 20-year Anthropic AI infrastructure agreement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Riot Platforms (RIOT) surged more than 20% before the start of U.S. equity trading on Tuesday after the bitcoin <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coindesk.com\/price\/bitcoin\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BTC$64,125.61<\/a> miner said it signed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.riotplatforms.com\/riot-platforms-reports-second-quarter-2026-financial-results-and-strategic-highlights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">$9.1 billion deal <\/a>with \u201ca leading frontier AI lab,\u201d accelerating its transformation into a provider of infrastructure for the artificial intelligence industry.<\/p>\n<p>The 20-agreement with the company, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2026-08-11\/anthropic-strikes-9-billion-deal-with-cloud-computing-firm-riot?srnd=homepage-americas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">identified as Anthropic<\/a> by Bloomberg, covers 191 megawatts of computing capacity at Riot\u2019s Rockdale, Texas, campus. <\/p>\n<p>Once focused almost entirely on bitcoin mining, Riot exemplifies an industry-wide pivot toward AI infrastructure, with long-term leases providing steadier revenue than the volatile flows from approving blocks on Bitcoin. <\/p>\n<p>Miners control large sites with established grid connections, land and cooling systems, allowing them to serve power-hungry AI customers faster than developers starting from scratch. Anthropic recently signed a six-year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2026-08-04\/anthropic-inks-10-billion-computing-deal-with-new-cloud-startup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">$10 billion contract<\/a> with Volta Infra for computing capacity at a site in Norway operated by bitcoin miner Bitdeer.<\/p>\n<p>Deployment at the Riot sites starts in December 2027, with the full buildout expected by June 2028. Two five-year extension options could increase total contract revenue to $16.1 billion.
