EY is reportedly hiring a head “agent economics” position to oversee its growing AI-powered workforce. <\/p>\n
According to a Bloomberg report, the move comes as large employers are increasingly examining whether their AI spending is delivering concrete business benefits. <\/p>\n
The new executive will lead EY’s AI value realisation office. <\/p>\n
EY global consulting AI leader Dan Diasio was quoted by the publication as saying that the unit will provide leadership with “end-to-end visibility of where and how our investments in AI are driving material and tangible impact in our business.” <\/p>\n
EY’s global vice-chair for consulting Errol Gardner explained that the firm’s new office is designed to co-ordinate management of AI agents across the business and avoid fragmented deployments by individual functions or divisions. <\/p>\n
Gardner told Bloomberg: “You can’t expect the HR or the talent function to manage an agentic workforce, and you can’t expect tech to manage an agentic workforce, and you probably can’t expect your finance function to manage an agentic workforce.” <\/p>\n
He said EY is also advising its clients to consider adopting similar oversight structures for their own AI initiatives. <\/p>\n
The head of agent economics will report to Anthony Caterino, EY’s global managing partner for business enablement. <\/p>\n
Earlier in April, EY introduced AI token budgets for staff in high-use areas such as software development. <\/p>\n
The limits are intended to ensure employees select the right level of AI model for each task. <\/p>\n
To further manage spending, EY has also incorporated AI routers into some internal tools. These systems direct users to the most suitable model for a given task, with the aim of reducing token usage, according to Diasio. <\/p>\n
