Anthropic<\/a> believes its growing use of artificial intelligence for healthcare and biology will improve public sentiment about the technology, the Wall Street Journal reported<\/a> Tuesday (Aug. 11), citing unnamed sources.<\/p>\n

That is one of the strategies Anthropic is sharing with potential investors in meetings ahead of its upcoming initial public offering (IPO), according to the report.<\/p>\n

Anthropic is also telling investors that it will fend off any threat from lower-priced offerings from Chinese AI developers by retaining its focus on building cutting-edge models. Most users want the best model that is currently available, the company said, per the report.<\/p>\n

The company is sharing these strategies with investors at a time when the company and other leading AI developers are facing tougher questions about potential challenges such as lower-cost models, growing public opposition to data center construction and, in the case of Anthropic, tension with the Trump administration, according to the report.<\/p>\n

Anthropic\u2019s upcoming initial public offering, and its performance after going public, will gauge investors\u2019 sentiment about all the top AI developers, per the report.<\/p>\n

Anthropic is aiming to launch its IPO in September or early October, according to the report.<\/p>\n

Anthropic did not immediately reply to PYMNTS\u2019 request for comment.<\/p>\n

Anthropic announced June 1 that it confidentially filed for an IPO<\/a> by submitting a draft registration statement to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).<\/p>\n

\u201cThis gives us the option to go public after the SEC completes its review,\u201d the company said in its announcement. \u201cThe proposed initial public offering will depend on market conditions and other factors.\u201d<\/p>\n

About a week earlier, on May 28, Anthropic became the most valuable AI startup in the world when it was valued at $965 billion post-money in a Series H funding round<\/a> in which it raised $65 billion.<\/p>\n

That valuation<\/a> was up from the $380 billion valuation Anthropic achieved three months earlier in a February Series G funding round in which it raised $30 billion.<\/p>\n

Anthropic President and Co-Founder Daniela Amodei<\/a> said June 4 that the cost of training AI models is driving companies like Anthropic to go public<\/a>.<\/p>\n
