{"id":136360,"date":"2026-08-11T17:48:11","date_gmt":"2026-08-11T17:48:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/136360\/"},"modified":"2026-08-11T17:48:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-11T17:48:11","slug":"microsoft-365-copilot-upgrades-deepen-productivity-industry-app-integrations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/136360\/","title":{"rendered":"Microsoft 365 Copilot Upgrades Deepen Productivity, Industry App Integrations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"240\" height=\"95\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/cloud-wars-logo-95h.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-70759\" style=\"object-fit:cover\"  \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New Microsoft 365 Copilot features rolled out in July include tighter integration with productivity applications, expanded AI model options, and new connectors to a range of industry-specific applications.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the analysis below, I highlight a handful of the most noteworthy enhancements from an exhaustive <a href=\"https:\/\/techcommunity.microsoft.com\/blog\/microsoft365copilotblog\/what%E2%80%99s-new-in-microsoft-365-copilot--july-2026\/4538332\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">set of new features<\/a> that the company recently outlined.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Users are now able to create documents, spreadsheets, and presentations without leaving their Copilot app; they do so by adding Word, Excel, or PowerPoint agents directly into a Copilot prompt and @mentioning the agent they need to invoke, which then gets added to the chat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The July updates to Microsoft 365 Copilot include a series of enhancements that extend the c<a href=\"https:\/\/agentandcopilot.com\/cloud-wars-minute\/microsoft-anthropic-ties-reinforce-model-choice-and-flexibility-commitment\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agentandcopilot.com\/cloud-wars-minute\/microsoft-anthropic-ties-reinforce-model-choice-and-flexibility-commitment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">ompany\u2019s commitment to make a range of AI models and choices available to users<\/a>. \u00a0When combined with <a href=\"https:\/\/agentandcopilot.com\/cloud-wars-minute\/cio-insight-how-microsoft-workiq-solves-ais-corporate-knowledge-problem\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agentandcopilot.com\/cloud-wars-minute\/cio-insight-how-microsoft-workiq-solves-ais-corporate-knowledge-problem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Work IQ<\/a>, Copilot uses this model flexibility to ground work it performs in files, meetings, chats, and business data to ensure it delivers results that are relevant to the user\u2019s work.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"516\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/1780580052_557_Speciality-Summit-NA-Nashville-2026-1024x516.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-80119\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.9860751939526557;width:311px;height:auto\"  \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-very-light-gray-background-color has-background wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.summitna.com\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.summitna.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Community Summit North America<\/a> is the largest independent innovation, education, and training event for Microsoft business applications delivered by Expert Users, Microsoft Leaders, MVPs, and Partners. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.summitna.com\/2026-summit-registration\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.summitna.com\/2026-summit-registration\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Register now<\/a> to attend Community Summit in Nashville, TN from October 11-15. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first newly supported model is OpenAI\u2019s GPT-5.6, which conducts enhanced reasoning for multi-step tasks such as deep analysis within Excel. It can also be used to create end-to-end deliverables in <a href=\"https:\/\/agentandcopilot.com\/ai-and-copilots\/microsoft-extends-reach-of-copilot-cowork-to-mobile-devices-and-new-data-sources\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/agentandcopilot.com\/ai-and-copilots\/microsoft-extends-reach-of-copilot-cowork-to-mobile-devices-and-new-data-sources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Copilot Cowork<\/a>. Second, Anthropic\u2019s Claude Sonnet 5\u00a0is now available; it\u2019s designed for agentic, multi-step work, helping with tasks including drafting documents, analyzing spreadsheets, and creating presentations. A third newly available model is Anthropic\u2019s Claude Fable 5,\u00a0which supports longer duration, complex work in Copilot Cowork. Anthropic touts Fable 5\u2019s ability to plan, execute, and check work across multi-stage tasks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Users can now customize Cowork with skills and plugins to connect it to other systems efficiently. In the customize tab of Cowork, users can add a skill through a guided \u2018create new\u2019 flow or by dragging and dropping an existing skill. This means less manual setup plus easy sharing; users can share any skill or plugin with specific individuals across the organization.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New\u00a0Copilot connectors bring industry-specific knowledge and data from third-party systems into users\u2019 work while adhering to existing security, compliance, and permission controls. Connectors enable users to search for and act on data from business applications their organizations already use. Newly available\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/learn.microsoft.com\/en-us\/microsoft-365\/copilot\/connectors\/overview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">connectors<\/a>\u00a0span a wide range of industries including financial services, professional services, industrial and manufacturing, software and technology, healthcare and life sciences, and retail and consumer goods.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are new mobile features as well. Push notifications from the Microsoft 365 Copilot mobile app\u00a0help users quickly catch up on their work from their iOS and Android devices, reducing the need to manually check across Outlook, Teams, and other Microsoft 365 apps.\u00a0Users will receive notifications \u2014 such as \u2018Items waiting for you\u2019 \u2014 delivered to their mobile devices.
