{"id":13691,"date":"2026-04-23T07:23:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T07:23:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/13691\/"},"modified":"2026-04-23T07:23:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T07:23:09","slug":"survey-americans-skeptical-but-view-ai-use-on-campus-as-important","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/13691\/","title":{"rendered":"Survey: Americans Skeptical but View AI Use on Campus as Important"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The wide-ranging survey, conducted by Quinnipiac University, shows mixed feelings about AI use on college campuses.<\/p>\n<p>alexsl\/iStock Unreleased\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Americans generally believe that it is important for colleges to incorporate artificial intelligence into their curriculum, yet they remain skeptical about whether it\u2019s possible to do so without threatening the overall quality of students\u2019 education, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/poll.qu.edu\/poll-release?releaseid=3958\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/poll.qu.edu\/poll-release?releaseid=3958\" target=\"_blank\">a new survey<\/a> from Quinnipiac University shows.<\/p>\n<p>Although nearly 75\u00a0percent of Americans think it is important that college and university students be taught how to use AI, only 42\u00a0percent think students are likely to use AI to help them learn. Meanwhile, 47\u00a0percent think college students are more likely to use AI to help them avoid learning.<\/p>\n<p>And while one could assume that older generations, or those less familiar with AI, are more cynical about the new technology, the survey found the opposite.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho is most skeptical about the merits of having AI provide a learning assist? By age, the generation most likely to be familiar with the workings of AI in the classroom,\u201d said Quinnipiac University polling analyst Tim Malloy.<\/p>\n<p>About 58\u00a0percent of 18- to 34-year-olds believe students will use AI to avoid learning. That\u2019s almost 25\u00a0percentage points higher than respondents 65 and older (35\u00a0percent).<\/p>\n<p>The survey, conducted from April 9 to 13, 2026, included responses from 1,210 adults.
