The update will make it easier to switch between using Copilot as an AI assistant for personal matters and using it for productivity-based tasks. For most people, not much will change with the unified app, which will simply appear as “Copilot”. However, Microsoft says some features will also be discontinued as the tech giant moves towards unification. These include:

Group Chat

All group chat threads, messages and images will not carry forward after August 18, 2026. Users must manually copy or download anything they want to keep. The podcasts feature will also be fully retired on August 18, 2026. Users will no longer be able to create or access podcasts in Copilot after this date.

Individual podcast files can still be downloaded before the retirement date.

Deep Search

Microsoft is also retiring Deep Search for consumers starting August 18, 2026. Existing Deep Search content will remain accessible, but the feature itself will no longer be available.

More from Tech

For users who have been using Copilot with a work or school account, Microsoft has clarified that the unified Copilot application is also coming to those accounts. Personal and commercial accounts will remain separated within the app, meaning data from your work or school account won’t be shared with your personal account, and vice versa.

Microsoft has confirmed that all Copilot data will migrate automatically to the new experience, meaning users will not need to do anything to ensure their chats and data are carried forward. This will happen automatically when the unified app lands on their device.

The rollout is now happening in waves, so most users will not be able to see the changes immediately. The worldwide rollout starts today for mobile phones, with the changes setting the company up to deliver a Copilot super-app experience that can handle tasks across Microsoft’s platforms and services.

Microsoft is rolling out a unified Copilot app that brings personal and productivity experiences together, while retiring features…

[11
420,7853,416,32409,68535,320,7852
post-138850","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-microsoft","tag-azure","tag-azure-copilot","tag-copilot","tag-copilot-app","tag-deep-search","tag-microsoft","tag-microsoft-copilot
["GET
