AI Collaborators bring AI agents into Workfront and assign them work, with a person reviewing the output before it ships. Teams can connect agents built on outside platforms, including Microsoft Copilot Studio, Claude and Writer.

Adobe has made Workfront AI Collaborators generally available today. The feature brings AI agents inside Workfront, its project management software, to manage and assign work from a centralized location.

How AI Collaborators Work

A Collaborator isn’t the agent itself. It’s a permissioned account that sits in Workfront, that provides the agent context from a project, gives the agent a task and then posts the result back to the task for a person to review. Marketing teams are the targeted audience for AI Collaborators, with a demo showing the potential roles collaborators can fill, including a Social Media Manager, Campaign Strategist, Content Designer and SEO Specialist.

You assign it work in the same way you’d assign a task to a person in a project board. Workfront packages what the agent needs — the task description, the campaign brief, messaging rules, brand voice — so that, Adobe said, the quality of the output doesn’t ride on one person knowing how to write a good prompt. Nothing is delivered until someone approves it.

The agent behind a Collaborator can be one the team already built or a custom-built agent made in Microsoft Copilot Studio, Claude or Writer. Any agent can be connected through a public API, an MCP endpoint or an agent-to-agent connection. Workfront becomes the place you manage agents, wherever they’re built, rather than a home exclusively for Adobe’s. A user names its collaborator, describes what it does and then connects it to the agent of their choice.

Collaborators fall into three primary types:

Task agentsReviewersProject coordinators

Task agents are the workhorse agents. The reviewer Collaborators check work against brand guidelines before handing it over for approval. Adobe said that reviewer can be powered by a tool it calls Brand Intelligence, which it said learns from real approvals, rejections and comments rather than only the written rules.

Task agents and Reviewers are available today. Project coordinators are “coming soon,” according to the company.

Access is limited to the specific role an agent plays, in the same way access is limited for human roles. Adobe states every step is logged and agents retain the context and instructions every time, making the process easily repeatable.

Where a Collaborator brings an agent into Workfront, Workfront MCP lets an outside tool — Claude, Copilot, Gemini or ChatGPT — reach into Workfront from wherever a team already works. One sends work out to agents; the other lets agents reach in.

 The Bigger Picture at Adobe

Adobe has spent the past year remaking itself around AI agents, and the numbers have followed. It closed its $1.9 billion all-cash purchase of Semrush on April 28, folding the company’s search and AI-search tools into its CX Enterprise lineup. Revenue for the quarter that ended in May hit a record $6.62 billion, up 13% from a year earlier, and its newest AI products passed $500 million in annual recurring revenue, more than triple the year before. Adobe raised its revenue target for the full year to between $26.50 billion and $26.60 billion on the strength of that performance.

Adobe is also going through changes at the top. In March, chair and CEO Shantanu Narayen said he’d step down as CEO once a successor is named, staying on as executive chair. Alongside the Q2 results, the company announced CFO Dan Durn was leaving, with Steven Day stepping in as interim CFO on June 15.

Have a tip to share with our editorial team?
