Happy Friday. Reddit<\/a> was announced officially as the next addition<\/a> to the S&P 500<\/a>, prompting a rally for the social media stock in early trading.<\/p>\n

Stock futures<\/a> are little changed this morning. Wall Street is coming off a winning day.<\/a><\/p>\n

Here are five key things investors need to know to start the trading day:<\/p>\n

1. The tech trade<\/p>\n

Anthropic CFO Krishna Rao is leading early meetings with potential investors ahead of what could be a historic initial public offering. But the artificial intelligence startup’s discussions have been high level and notably didn’t include<\/a> talks about specific financials or a valuation, sources told CNBC’s David Faber<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Here’s what else we’re following in AI:<\/p>\n

2. Houston, we have an event<\/p>\n

Apple<\/a> CEO Tim Cook opened a new manufacturing facility<\/a> in Houston yesterday that will produce Mac Minis and offer free training and classes. Cook was joined by a cadre of government officials, most notably Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick.<\/p>\n

Cook said the iPhone maker had spent hundreds of millions of dollars on the space. Lutnick said that Apple could “lead the charge for advanced manufacturing coming to America.”<\/p>\n

As CNBC’s Kif Leswing<\/a> and MacKenzie Sigalos<\/a> note, the ribbon-cutting comes near the end of Cook’s tenure as CEO. Yesterday’s event could be a taste of what Cook’s future might look like, as he’s slated to continue corresponding with policymakers on behalf of the company.<\/p>\n

3. Takeover talk<\/p>\n

Silver Lake is reportedly in talks<\/a> to buy Workday<\/a>. Shares of the human resources software provider surged nearly 18% yesterday, marking their biggest one-day gain in 10 years.<\/p>\n

AS CNBC’s Samantha Subin<\/a> writes, Workday’s stock has been under pressure amid concerns that AI could roil the California-based company’s business model. Workday and Silver Lake did not respond to CNBC’s request for comment.<\/p>\n

A day prior, Wendy’s<\/a> shares surged more than 14%<\/a> following a report that Nelson Peltz’s Trian Fund Management was putting together a takeover bid. Peltz’s representatives did not respond to CNBC, while Wendy’s said it would “thoroughly review any proposal” from the fund.<\/p>\n

A federal trade court upheld President Donald Trump’s removal of the “de minimis” loophole<\/a> yesterday. The three-judge panel said that Trump had the power to axe the exemption under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.<\/p>\n

Under the loophole, goods valued at less than $800 had been imported into the U.S. tax free. Trump cheered the decision. Attorneys for the plaintiff did not respond to CNBC’s request for comment.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Trump could also see his name back on the Kennedy Center.<\/a> Its board of trustees voted to add his name back to the building’s facade, despite a judge shooting down a prior attempt.<\/p>\n

5. Hot deal<\/p>\n

Brinker International<\/a> CEO Kevin Hochman\u00a0sees a key ingredient in Chili’s recipe for success: it’s $10.99 campaign.<\/a> In the offer, consumers get an entr\u00e9e, chips and salsa and a non-alcoholic drink.<\/p>\n

Hochman\u00a0told CNBC’s Jim Cramer<\/a> yesterday that the deal has been a bedrock of its low-priced offerings, which have been key to the chain’s rebound story. Hochman said consumers know they can get an “amazing value.” The company is focused on getting more diners into locations as a way to increase sales rather than raising prices, he said.<\/p>\n
