{"id":14295,"date":"2026-04-23T16:16:23","date_gmt":"2026-04-23T16:16:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/14295\/"},"modified":"2026-04-23T16:16:23","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T16:16:23","slug":"anthropic-just-overtook-openai-with-1-trillion-valuation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/14295\/","title":{"rendered":"Anthropic just overtook OpenAI with $1 trillion valuation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>    <img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/15f9bbf537a10bf41e60d4fe06708aa2.jpeg\" alt=\"Anthropic's app for its Claude chatbot (right) pictured alongside OpenAI's ChatGPT (iStock\/ Getty Images)\" loading=\"eager\" height=\"640\" width=\"960\" class=\"yf-lglytj  loaded\"\/> Anthropic&#8217;s app for its Claude chatbot (right) pictured alongside OpenAI&#8217;s ChatGPT (iStock\/ Getty Images)      <\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/anthropic\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Anthropic;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;Anthropic&quot;}\" class=\"link \">Anthropic<\/a> is now valued higher than its main competitor, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/openai\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:OpenAI;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;OpenAI&quot;}\" class=\"link \">OpenAI<\/a>, according to share sales on secondary markets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/artificial-intelligence\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:artificial intelligence;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;artificial intelligence&quot;}\" class=\"link \">artificial intelligence<\/a> firm hit a $1 trillion valuation on Forge Global, a financial platform that allows investors to acquire shares from private companies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The figure is considerably higher than the $380 billion that Anthropic was valued at during a funding round three months ago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">ChatGPT creator OpenAI is currently trading at around $880 billion on Forge Global \u2013 roughly equivalent to its $852 billion valuation from its latest funding round.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The inflated value of Anthropic, which owns the Claude chatbot, appears to come from a shortage of available shares, with shareholders reportedly being inundated with unsolicited offers for their stakes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u201cJust got offered a $1.05 trillion valuation on my Anthropic shares from a very well known growth fund,\u201d Anthropic investor Jesse Leimgruber wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JesseRank\/status\/2046730690386182629?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:post to X;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" data-yga=\"{&quot;yLinkElement&quot;:&quot;context_link&quot;,&quot;yModuleName&quot;:&quot;content-canvas&quot;,&quot;yLinkText&quot;:&quot;post to X&quot;}\" class=\"link \">post to X<\/a>. \u201cAbsolutely wild.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Investor interest has been driven by Anthropic\u2019s revenue growth, which has risen rapidly amid mass adoption of its Claude Code tool among developers, as well as partnerships with tech giants like Amazon and Palantir.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">The firm\u2019s annualised run rate rose from $9 billion in late 2025 to $39 billion in March 2026, according to figures seen by Business Insider.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u201cWe receive daily offers, from the ridiculous to the sublime,\u201d Bradley Horowitz, a partner at Wisdom Ventures and an early investor in Anthropic, told the publication.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">\u201cIt\u2019s almost less about the return than being able to say they\u2019re an Anthropic investor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1fy9kyt\">Rainmaker Securities CEO Glen Anderson, who received an offer to buy Anthropic shares at a $960 billion valuation, added: \u201cIt\u2019s been an epic run for Anthropic.
