Center for Reimagining Education<\/a>.<\/p>\n\u201cI think it\u2019s absolutely fantastic,\u201d Jeff West High School social studies teacher Shawn Dolezilek said. \u201cWe haven\u2019t spent the money yet because we\u2019re still trying to figure out what\u2019s the best way to use that. I don\u2019t just want it to be wasted dollars.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s really powerful to see, in a world where sometimes education isn\u2019t always at the forefront of people\u2019s minds, that there are still people who are willing to invest in it and people who are standing behind us and do want to see how education can progress,\u201d Jeff West Middle School art teacher Brooklyn Petrie said.<\/p>\n
So far, teachers say they haven\u2019t heard concerns from families.<\/p>\n
\u201cI expected parents to say \u2018No I don\u2019t want my student using that\u2019 and we had none of that,\u201d Williams said. \u201cEverybody was right on board.\u201d<\/p>\n
They want to use this opportunity to change how students learn.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo that\u2019s what we\u2019re trying to do is be innovative and kind of be the sky\u2019s the limit on how can we fundamentally change the way we do school,\u201d Dolezilek said. \u201cBecause right now we\u2019re still based on that 19th century farming model.\u201d<\/p>\n
The district is now in the second of a three-year partnership with KU.<\/p>\n
