Organizations want to connect these systems to more enterprise data, yet concerns about access and control have limited adoption. That tension creates what Brian Vecci, field CTO at Varonis, described as the “3% paradox.”

“That 3% is the paradox of, ‘I want to unlock all of this value, but I can’t do it without introducing all of this risk,'” Vecci said. As organizations deploy potentially millions of agents, security teams must assume some will make mistakes or take harmful actions. Vecci said enterprises should focus on limiting the blast radius by restricting data access and permitted actions, while monitoring agents for business context.

In this video interview with ISMG at Black Hat USA 2026, Vecci also discussed:

Why agentic AI turns automation into a new labor layer capable of operating at machine speed
How limiting data access, permitted actions and blast radius can reduce enterprise AI risk
Why faster detection, automated response and business context will separate successful AI adopters

At Varonis, Brian Vecci supports a wide range of security and technology initiatives by helping Varonis’ customers and partners secure AI and the data the powers it. In his 20-year technical career, he served as a developer, tech architect, engineer and product manager for companies in financial services, legal and cybersecurity. He joined Varonis in 2010 in technical marketing, led education and development, and now serves as the company’s field CTO.

Varonis Field CTO Brian Vecci on Limiting AI Agent Access in a ‘Post-Mythos World’ Tom Field (SecurityEditor) •…

[6
179,7493,1798,25,13709,9578
post-143720","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-agentic-ai","tag-agentic-ai","tag-agentic-artificial-intelligence","tag-ai-governance","tag-artificial-intelligence","tag-vulnerability-management","tag-zero-trust
["GET
