The trial, which could cost Meta hundreds of billions of dollars in damages, involves a coalition of 29 state attorneys general who brought a unified case<\/a>\u00a0against the company in 2023.<\/p>\n OpenAI has also faced scrutiny over its safety practices. <\/p>\n In June, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier filed a lawsuit<\/a> against\u00a0OpenAI\u00a0and its CEO,\u00a0Sam Altman<\/a>, alleging the\u00a0company knowingly released an unsafe product that could harm users. Days later, a coalition of state attorneys reportedly<\/a> opened an investigation\u00a0into the company.
