{"id":148535,"date":"2026-08-23T08:10:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-23T08:10:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/148535\/"},"modified":"2026-08-23T08:10:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-23T08:10:09","slug":"major-tech-firms-to-help-upskill-hong-kong-workers-under-ai-for-all-paul-chan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ai\/148535\/","title":{"rendered":"Major tech firms to help upskill Hong Kong workers under \u2018AI for All\u2019: Paul Chan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Hong Kong\u2019s employees retraining board will partner with major tech firms to launch an artificial intelligence (AI) training programme for the working population in November, the city\u2019s finance chief has said.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">In his Sunday blog, Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po said the HK$50 million (US$6.4 million) \u201cAI for All\u201d inclusive programme, announced in the February budget, would feature more than 200 activities and was expected to benefit 50,000 people within two years.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cThe development and application of frontier technology will pose challenges to the job market. We must speed up our response, helping young people master the skills and giving them opportunities to apply them in the workplace,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cHong Kong is home to many small and medium-sized enterprises whose agility, adaptability, and innovative spirit have seen them through past tech shifts and economic cycles. As we navigate this current paradigm shift, we will fully support them in adapting, preparing, and continuing to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Chan cited a survey finding that almost 70 per cent of Hong Kong residents were proficient in using AI, while about 20 per cent were highly proficient and leveraged AI agents to automate daily tasks.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Paul Chan attends the Hong Kong Computer and Communications Festival.
