PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications have partnered with Microsoft to expand the use of artificial intelligence across their workforce and operations.<\/p>\n
The partnership builds on the PLDT Group\u2019s acquisition of 1,000 Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses. The companies said the AI assistant is being integrated into daily tasks such as drafting communications, summarizing meetings, analyzing information and supporting internal decision-making.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur partnership with Microsoft allows us to accelerate this transformation at scale, embedding AI into everyday processes and building new capabilities across the organization. This is about driving real impact, improving how we work, and unlocking new opportunities for innovation,\u201d said Gilbert Gaw, first vice president and head of information technology and the Transformation Office at PLDT and Smart.<\/p>\n
PLDT said its finance and procurement teams are using AI to speed up reviews and analysis, while customer-facing units are applying the technology to consolidate feedback and shorten response times. Human resources and other internal teams are also using the tools to automate routine work.<\/p>\n
The telecommunications group said the rollout would be accompanied by employee training, governance measures and performance monitoring. It did not disclose the cost of the licenses or provide specific data on productivity gains from the initial deployment.<\/p>\n
PLDT and Smart plan to develop more advanced AI applications for network operations, enterprise services and business-process automation.<\/p>\n
